Safety Sales Team Members in Alabama

AUTHORIZED OSHA OUTREACH INSTRUCTOR
Malcolm is from Smyrna, Tennessee and has been teaching companies how to operate safely and stay OSHA compliant for more than 23 years. Malcolm is an Authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor, a Hazardous Material Training and Research Institute (HMTRI) graduate and is a Qualified Safety Sales Professional (QSSP). Malcolm’s expertise includes OSHA Compliance and OSHA Written Program Knowledge. He has a keen eye for identifying non-compliant hazards in the workplace and conducts plant safety assessments and audits to ensure Customers pass OSHA requirements, meet OSHA standards and avoid hefty fines. He also performs various safety training such as Drug-Free Workplace, Hearing Conservation and Ladder Safety, to name a few, at the Customer’s location.
“I love Martin – the team spirit, family atmosphere, low pressure”, says Malcolm. “I enjoy visiting different Companies each day, learning about what they do and making new friends at each location.”
In his spare time, Malcolm paints landscapes, partakes in woodworking projects, hikes and travels.
Vivian is originally from Chicago, Illinois but moved to Alabama over 40 years ago. Today, she calls Birmingham her home.
She has been a safety sales professional for more than 30 years with nine of those years at Martin Safety. She is OSHA 10 Certified and an OSHA Qualified and Competent Person in Fall Protection. Additional specialties include hand protection, flash fire and arc flash protection, and fit, care and PPE inspection.
When it comes to helping companies operate better, no one does it better or makes it as fun as Vivian. Her key to finding the right solution is to isolate each issue and work with the Customer to solve that issue in a way that can often create other solutions. She keeps at the forefront the goal of creating a custom, safe and user-friendly solution while achieving cost savings. In 2019, she was awarded the Martin Cost Savings Award for the many ways she helped her Customers control costs while meeting their safety needs. What she likes most about her job are the personal relationships developed with Customers, Suppliers and Coworkers. To them, she’s not just a Rep, but their friend.
Vivian married her high school sweetheart and they have been together for more than 30 years. Together, they have three adult children and one grandson. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling and cheering for the Auburn Tigers! War Eagle!
Paul is from Fultondale, Alabama but calls Hartselle his home. He has been in the safety sales industry for over 37 years and is certified in OSHA 10, a Fall Protection Competent Person, and has received numerous product and brand-specific training. Paul is knowledgeable about all safety products, but it’s the technical supplies like portable and fixed gas detection that he enjoys working with the most.
When asked what he likes most about his job, Paul says, “the satisfaction of knowing that I have helped keep employees safe at their job.”
Paul is an amateur wine maker and has his own vineyard. He’s been married for over 35 years and has a son, a daughter-in-law and a 16-month old grandson.
Wally is a lifelong resident of Russellville, Alabama and has been with Martin since 1999. His education includes Welding & Sheet Metal Training at Northwest Alabama Technical College, a Pipefitting Four-Year Apprentice Program and training courses at SECO, Snap-On Tools, 3M, Norton, PIP and Dynabrade.
His specialties include Metal Fabrication, Heavy Maintenance and Machine Tooling. He has more than 20 years’ experience working with family-owned businesses that specialize in heavy industrial steel, sheet metal and machine work.
Wally has won many awards while at Martin including the Bruce Baggett Hustle Award (2006), Overall Gross Profit Award (2015), 3M Pioneer Award (2015) and the Affiliated Distributors Award (2015-2019).
“I enjoy working with a team of talented people – management, co-workers and factory representatives – who are knowledgeable and can be counted on to meet our Customer’s needs,” says Wally. “I enjoy the opportunity to learn new skills, work on different projects regularly and solve problems for my Customers. I’m challenged in a different way every day and that is satisfying.”
Wally’s valuable experience, understanding and knowledge gained working in various industries and companies of various sizes and organizational structure are what enable him to help companies operate better.
Wally has been married for 40 plus years, has a son and daughter and three grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, classic cars and working on his Jeep.
Kim is from Russellville, Alabama and has been in sales for over 15 years, 10 of which have been in the safety industry. Kim is a Qualified Safety Sales Professional (QSSP), a Competent Person in Fall Protection and 10-Hour and 30-Hour OSHA trained.
Kim helps safety directors with safety training, product selection, and safety audits. Some of the services she provides include: hand protection audits, assistance with hearing conservation programs, fall protection equipment inspections, respiratory fit testing, and assistance with lock out/tag out.
“I love working in the different industrial environments and meeting with customers,” says Kim. “Each plant is unique. I find joy in getting to know them, how they operate, and helping them find solutions that make spending a day on the job a little safer. And, I LOVE training people how to properly select, fit, and maintain their PPE.”
In her spare time, Kim enjoys painting, crafting and being creative.
Industrial Sales Team Members in Alabama
Ricky is a Huntsville, Alabama native and has been in the industrial sales industry for 41 years. His specialties include fasteners, tools and abrasives, vender managed inventory (VMI), consignment, manufacturing production flow and MRO customized systems. Ricky received additional training in fasteners at Holo-Krome in Milwaukee, WI.
What he likes most about his job is having the freedom to make decisions and solve Customer issues while sitting with the Customer.
“When I meet with a Customer, I have an open mind and let the Customer tell me what they need. Then, using my industry experience I find a custom-tailored solution that will help them operate better”.
Additional roles that Ricky has had include licensed Alabama contractor, real estate agent, sales manager and salesperson trainer.
In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, flipping houses and restoring antique vehicles.
Josh is from Trussville, Alabama and has been with Martin for over a year. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing from Auburn University and has over 10 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas Pipeline and Construction Industries.
When asked what he likes most about his job, he said “My Customer relationships. I enjoy meeting new people and being able to support my Customers’ needs with the vast resources and Supplier partnerships Martin has to offer”. Josh helps companies operate better by keeping a close eye on his Customer’s accounts. He strives to provide 24/7 service, on-time delivery of supplies, and custom tailored solutions to maximize their operations.
He is married and has a 3-month old daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, stays active in sports leagues and plays guitar.
David is from Florence, Alabama and has been in the industrial sales industry for over 44 years. Thirty of those years have been with Martin. His primary specialty is cutting tool applications in the metalworking industry where he holds SECO Pro 3 Certification. He is Martin’s most decorated sales team member winning the coveted President’s Award eight times and the Highest Cost Savings Award in 2014, 2016 and 2017.
Meeting people, building relationships, and problem solving with customers is what David likes most about his job. David says, “Martin Inc. is a company built upon focusing on each Customer’s specific needs. I help Customer’s operate better by establishing credibility and trust and then work on solving their specific problems with a wide variety of services we offer. These solutions may include new products that improve processes and productivity, customer service from the vast knowledge of our inside sales team or logistics solutions through vending or VMI that provide greater accountability and convenience.”
In his spare time, David likes classic cars, drag racing, playing guitar, singing, and is a gun buff. He’s been married for 40 years and has two sons and three grandsons.
David lives in Jacksonville, Alabama and works out of our Anniston, Alabama office. He has been in industrial sales for over 35 years and with Martin for 9 years. David graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. His specialties include material handling, abrasives and PPE and he has successfully completed training with SECO Tools, BRADY, SGS Kyocera Cutting Tools, Snap On and Williams Tool.
“The highlight of each day is being able to spend time with a variety of people at various Customer locations,” says David. “The first step in helping Customers operate better is to really listen to their operational issues. Then, I work collaboratively to find that solution that fits exactly what they need the way they need it.”
In his spare time, David enjoys watching University of Alabama sports, Jacksonville State University sports, playing golf, working out, bike riding and coaching youth league baseball.
He is married to Nancy and they have two grown sons.
REGIONAL SALES MANAGER
Brent is a Florence, Alabama native with 22 plus years in sales. He has been with Martin for 7 years and led Martin’s Information Technology Department for three years. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama and a Master’s Degree in Information Systems from University of Alabama in Huntsville. Brent oversees our Sheffield and Decatur, Alabama branches and his specialties include inventory control, process optimization and system design.
Brent knows how to get to the heart of an issue by asking his Customers the right questions. By asking Customers to identify pain points in their procurement function, he can pinpoint where their issues may lie and can help create the right solution.
In his spare time, he enjoys watching his children participate in school and extracurricular activities and spending time outdoors.
