Machine Shop
Problem
A customer had a major machining project that was going to take 400 man hours to complete. The process was cumbersome and took up a valuable piece of equipment.
Solution
A Martin sales rep was brought in and examined the issue. After understanding the requirements, process, and cost of the project he was able to make a recommendation. He had the customer buy a pipe beveller that would make the job much easier to complete.
Results
With the pipe beveller on hand, the processing time went from one piece/hour to six/hour, resulting in $20,000 in savings. This also freed up a $700,000 lathe, so instead of taking up the time of a Class A Machinist a Class B Tradesman could work on the project. The project came in on time and under budget thanks to an understanding of all of the variables and the needs of the customer.
