Get Workers Safety-Trained & Back to Work Faster with Martin’s OSHA 8
By Malcolm Ritchie, BS, QSSP, HMTRI, Authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor, Martin Safety
As most companies know, by federal law OSHA requires that all companies maintain a safe working environment for their workers. OSHA has several requirements for keeping your workers safe. Among those is the requirement for safety training.
There are many ways to do safety training. One way is the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Safety Training Class. This is a class sanctioned by OSHA that must be taught over two days and goes over a multitude of safety topics. It is a voluntary course and NOT mandated by OSHA. At the end of the OSHA 10-Hour Class, the worker receives an I.D. card from the OSHA Training Institute. Overall, this class is a good voluntary safety class and Martin Solutions Plus teaches this class.
However, there are some things you may not know about the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Safety Training Class. For one, OSHA does NOT recognize this class as part of your on-going safety training requirement. There must be other types of safety training at your workplace. In other words, if OSHA shows up to investigate, asks about your safety training and wants to see your training records, the OSHA 10-Hour Safety Class won’t count as an on-going safety training.
OSHA 10-Hour Class Alternative: The Martin 8-Hour Safety Training Class
The Martin 8-Hour Safety Training Class is eight full hours of safety training covering multiple safety topics. In fact, these are the same safety topics that are taught in the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Safety Training Class. The Martin 8-Hour Safety Training Class omits the introductory information that isn’t part of safety training saving you two hours of your workers time. Unlike the voluntary OSHA-10 course that must take place over two days, Martin’s 8-Hour OSHA Training can be completed in one day and be counted as your company’s regular OSHA mandated safety training. Best of all, it gets your employees back to work faster.
