How did you work your way into the career you are in now?
Through the SafetyWear acquisition, I transitioned from Purchasing to Customer Service. Having a good work ethic, and being responsible and reliable, helped me to earn the trust of the Martin Team. Being open to change and having the support of the Martin Team has helped me to be successful in this role.
What advice would you give women looking to succeed in this industry?
Focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses, and build on them to become even stronger. Since it’s not easy for many of us, take risks, as there is always a learning experience in taking risks.
What steps can companies take to recruit more women into roles like yours?
Being flexible and family-friendly helps make women feel valued and respected as working mothers while still being successful. Putting women in leadership positions shows that there is room for growth opportunities within the company for women.
What’s most rewarding about working in your current role?
My Team! I am proud to come into work each day knowing that my Team’s mindset is to take care of our customers, both internal and external, as quickly and effectively as possible in a team-oriented environment.
What does it take to be successful in a role like yours?
Being detail-oriented, having good communication skills, and being empathetic to customers and employee needs has helped me to be successful in my current role. Treating others as you would want to be treated is important.
